Plans to graduate in Spring 2020
Cole Clarke knew he wanted to take a college program online. With support from staff at the Contact North | Contact Nord online learning centre in Longlac, he enrolled in Cambrian College’s Business Fundamentals – Online program.
“I attended French elementary school and high school,” he explains. “I wanted to ease into college and get accustomed to the change.” Cole graduated with his Ontario Secondary School Diploma in June 2019, worked for the summer and started college in September 2019.
He appreciates the support from staff at the local Contact North | Contact Nord online learning centre who help him navigate Cambrian College’s portal. He downloads his course material and assignments, and works independently. He only connects with instructors by e-mail.
Remaining in his own community with family provides good support as he adjusts to college, and also saves money. He plans to continue his post-secondary education past the first year. However, he wants the opportunity to become comfortable with post-secondary expectations before moving away from home to attend an on-campus program.
“Really glad I chose online for the first year,” he says.
Cole plans to graduate in Spring 2020 and is considering enrolling in an on-campus program.
