Plans to graduate in Spring 2022
A Contact North | Contact Nord flyer promoting the University of Guelph’s Family and Community Social Services program came across Lily Froman’s desk at Grand River Employment and Training and she immediately contacted staff at the Contact North | Contact Nord online learning centre in Brantford. With support from staff, she enrolled in the program.
Lily is the Program and Services Officer with Grand River Employment and Training and plans to build her career in the field. She is a graduate of Niagara College’s Social Service Worker program and wants to continue her education.
As a single mother and working full-time, she needs the online option to complete her education and training. “I login to the university portal and download what we are learning for the week, what is required reading and we have a deadline every Sunday,” she explains. Interaction between students and the professor happens on the online discussion board.
“The first semester has been very rewarding and glad I made it this far!” she shares. “Definitely challenging. I need to time manage myself.” When she needs to get away from distractions at home, she will find a quiet spot at her favourite coffee shop to complete her course work.
Lily plans to graduate in Spring 2022.
