In the 2nd semester of the program
At the age of 50 years old, Mark Leblanc decided to make a career change. He worked as a pipefitter for a paper mill in Kapuskasing and wanted to get out of the trades and into a business environment.
He enrolled in Northern College’s Northern Colleges Collaboration Program (NCCP): Business Fundamentals program at the South Porcupine campus. The program is blended delivery, both in-class and online. For the online courses, he connects to his classes using Contact North | Contact Nord’s web conferencing platform.
“I use my own laptop and work in the college library with classmates,” explains Mark. “I like the class being recorded, I can listen if I miss something.”
Mark is excited about returning to school. “My grades are good and will see what doors open for me,” he says. “I have another fifteen years to work.”
Mark is in the second semester and considering the university bridging option recently available through a partnership between Northern College and Algoma University.
