Completed five online courses and plans to start full-time on-campus with University of Guelph in Fall 2020
Megan Deak saw the Contact North | Contact Nord flyer while at the Simcoe Employment Centre. She was interested in taking online courses and with the support of staff at the Contact North | Contact Nord online learning centre in Brantford, she enrolled in McGill University’s free online Personal Finance Essentials course.
She says when she learned McGill University was offering the free online course, she immediately thought “this must be a really good course”. She was also impressed the reputable university was offering a free online course. “I chose online courses because it was more convenient with my work schedule and I liked the self-paced time frame,” she explains.
While off from work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Megan continued to receive support from staff at the online learning centre to find more courses for her to take. She enrolled in several Gale courses: Grammar 1, Grammar 2, Introduction to Biology and Introduction to Mediation.
“I love learning. I would be happy being a student forever!” she admits.
Megan plans to start the full-time Biology program at University of Guelph in Fall 2020 and continue taking short online courses.
