Completed Understanding Indigenous Perspectives program, Writing Essentials and now enrolled in Learning to Learn Online
Now in retirement, Nancy Lorimer is taking advantage of free online learning courses. With the support of staff at the Contact North | Contact Nord online learning centre in Madoc, she enrolled in University of Toronto’s online Understanding Indigenous Perspectives program.
“It was a good program,” she shares. “It was a nice mixture of reading, videos and links to National Film Board films.” She feels very fortunate to have the time now to explore post-secondary education after working full-time since graduating high school and raising two sons on her own. “It’s great to see all the possibilities and keep something on the go all the time,” she says.
With regular information from Contact North | Contact Nord staff about online programs and online courses that may be of interest to her, the research is done and she simply chooses what interests her. She recently completed a short online Gale course, Writing Essentials, and is now enrolled in Contact North | Contact Nord and Athabasca University’s free online course, Learning to Learn Online, which helps students succeed in online courses.
Nancy is planning to take more online university courses.
