Planning to graduate in 2021
After earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Seneca College, Peace Ariajegba wanted to obtain the Certified Professional Accountant designation. With the support of staff at the Centre d’apprentissage en ligne de Contact North | Contact Nord in Georgina, she enrolled in Carleton University’s online Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting.
Although she admits she prefers learning in a classroom, she appreciates the opportunity to take the program online. “I chose an online program because I need to work and it is working out really well for me,” she says. Her courses consist of video lectures, assignments and professors are available to answer questions.
Staff at the Centre d’apprentissage en ligne de Contact North | Contact Nord coordinate and proctor her exams. She lives in Newmarket, only a short drive from the online learning centre.
“Having the CPA designation will open up many more opportunities for me,” she explains. Although she works in the field, she plans to build her career as an accountant after receiving the designation.
Peace completed half of the courses required and plans to graduate in 2021.
