Plans to graduate in Spring 2020
With a referral by an Agilec employment worker to the local Contact North | Contact Nord online learning centre in Shelburne, Rhonda Miller received support to enrol in Loyalist College’s online Early Childhood Education program.
“I was a stay-at-home mom and I don’t drive,” she shares. “I kinda knew that I wanted to take the Early Childhood Education program.” Contact North | Contact Nord staff provided a list of colleges that offered the program online and Rhonda chose the college that worked best for her.
It was over 25 years since she was in a classroom and needed the flexibility of online learning. She works independently on her courses and made friends with classmates over the course discussion boards. She writes exams at the online learning centre and has placements in her community.
Her educational experience started with the labour action at Ontario’s colleges in 2017 and ended with the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout, she received support from staff at the Shelburne online learning centre.
Rhonda graduates in Spring 2020.
