Plans to graduate in Spring 2020
Through a referral from St. Leonard’s Community Services to Contact North | Contact Nord, Stacey Barker received study options for online programs to meet her needs. With support from staff at the Contact North | Contact Nord online learning centre in Brantford, she enrolled in Fanshawe College’s online Office Administration – General program.
“I had no patience to go back into a classroom,” she explains. As a mature student, she prefers the independence of online, anytime courses that allow her to pursue her education on her own schedule. “I wanted to study online,” says Stacey. “I looked at a few colleges and chose Fanshawe.”
She works on her coursework from her home computer and writes tests and exams at the online learning centre in Brantford. She admits she was nervous about going back to school; however, she enjoys the program and is getting good grades.
“I love the whole online experience,” Stacey shares. “I like that I work at my own pace, and login at any time.” She explains how she treats her studies like a job and starts at 8:00 a.m., takes a break at lunch to go to the gym and then returns to her computer for the afternoon.
Stacey plans to graduate in Spring 2020 and is feeling confident about seeking employment.
